Our church seeks to extend its fellowship to the whole congregation in two particular ways – through the Contact Scheme, where certain members of the congregation serve as ‘Contacts’ for a number of church households, and secondly through the Care Team who visit people who have specific needs at any particular time.
A Support Team seeks to coordinate the work of the many in our congregation who give of their time to these important aspects of our church life.
The Support Team were encouraged at the positive response to the well attended gatherings of members of the Care Team and Contacts, held in May and June 2007, where those attending had the opportunity to meet socially, to share experiences, to receive encouragement from one another, and to suggest how we can fulfil our calling in a more effective way. These gatherings will now be organised on an annual basis.
Following on from suggestions at these meetings, the Support Team organised the production of a Harvest Card that Contacts passed to the folks in their area in Autumn, and also plan to have church Easter Cards for Contacts to give to those in their area. It is planned to provide these each year.
More information can be obtained from the Support Team members : Jane Gourlay, Eve Isaac, Christine Ritchie, Clem Stewart, Sheena Stewart, Anne Taylor, and our minister, Rev John Notman.
