Hours of opening: Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm
Here and Now Coffee Shop and Christian Centre started in July 1997, a joint venture of the local churches in Stonehaven. With donations and loans from the churches, the lease of the present premises was obtained,The Coffee Shop was officially opened in September 1997, and recently there was a celebration service to mark the 10 years since its opening.
The Coffee Shop and Christian Centre aims to:
- Advance Christian activities within Stonehaven
- Provide a Coffee Shop and outreach facility
- Sell Christian cards, books and gifts
- Promote and sell fairly traded goods
The shop is staffed by around 100 dedicated volunteers drawn from local and neighbouring churches together with a few paid staff. Responsibility for the running of the shop lies with a committee, which includes the shop managers and volunteers, with overall responsibility lying with Fetteresso Church. The shop offers employment to a number of young people on Saturdays and during holidays.
The menu of the Coffee Shop contains a large variety of hot and cold snacks and drinks.
There is a wide selection of Christian books on sale. Books and Bible Study notes can also be ordered through the shop. The selection of cards covers family, religious and special occasions. Christian novelties and gifts are also available.
In addition, the shop stocks fairly traded food, gifts and paper products.

There have been a number of changes at Here and Now in recent months. Alan Bisset has taken over as Chairman and there is now a two-tier management structure with a group of Trustees setting policy and taking major decisions and a Business Committee meeting more regularly to deal with day-to-day matters at the shop. Here and Now are looking for a Relief Cook. If you feel able to consider this work, please click here to send an email.
As always, the centre is looking for volunteers. Different people have different talents and there are various jobs which can be undertaken to help maintain a Christian presence in the centre of Stonehaven. Dishwashers are always needed, waitresses for two hour stints, especially to fill in during the holiday season and people to man the till. Full training will be given. If you can give some time - as little as two hours a week, please contact the shop or speak to Mary Wood.
If you haven't been in to Here and Now recently, please come in and try the meringues. There is an excellent range of cakes, traybakes and scones. It would help Here and Now greatly if you were able to buy one item from your weekly grocery list at Here and Now, furthering the work of the centre and also helping the producers of fairly traded goods worldwide. hereandnow@fetteresso.org.uk
