A Fairtrade Church

As Christians we try to understand the impact our choices and actions have on others. We know that by using fair trade we can help poorer people in developing countries to work their way out of poverty. So it makes sense that we have chosen to be a Fairtrade Church. This means:-
- We use Fairtrade tea and coffee after our services and at all the meetings for which we are responsible.
- We move forward on using other Fairtrade products like sugar, biscuits and fruit.
- We promote Fairtrade during Fairtrade Fortnight and during the year through events, worship and other activities, whenever possible.
Every week when we drink our coffee and tea after the Sunday service we are supporting Fairtrade. This may seem like a drop in the ocean but Victor Perezgrovas, manager of a Mexican coffee co-operative, sees it differently and explains Fairtrade to farmers by using an ancient Indian saying, “Many little raindrops falling in the mountains make the mighty rivers swell.”
There are now 4000 Fairtrade churches. Considering that the support of 1 church can make a difference imagine how many lives 4000 or more churches can change.
