Home Sunday School - Sunday 28th June

Last week, we went back to the beginning, and we talked about the effects of sin on the perfect world that God created.  And all of our 4 "clues" about God's Big Story looked to be failing.

Living in GOD'S PLACE - Nowhere

And enjoying GOD'S BLESSINGS - Also not happenind, as they'd been kicked out of the Garden of Eden because of their sin.

This week, we're going to catch up on a couple of key events from the early chapters of Genesis, to help us get a picture of where things are at before Abraham comes along.  Watch the video.

Read it:

Today's Bible passage comes from Genesis 8: 6-19.  The Good News Translation is below, or you can use a different version if you'd like.

"After forty days Noah opened a window and sent out a raven. It did not come back, but kept flying around until the water was completely gone. Meanwhile, Noah sent out a dove to see if the water had gone down, but since the water still covered all the land, the dove did not find a place to light. It flew back to the boat, and Noah reached out and took it in. He waited another seven days and sent out the dove again. It returned to him in the evening with a fresh olive leaf in its beak. So Noah knew that the water had gone down. Then he waited another seven days and sent out the dove once more; this time it did not come back.

When Noah was 601 years old, on the first day of the first month, the water was gone. Noah removed the covering of the boat, looked around, and saw that the ground was getting dry. By the twenty-seventh day of the second month the earth was completely dry.

God said to Noah, “Go out of the boat with your wife, your sons, and their wives. Take all the birds and animals out with you, so that they may reproduce and spread over all the earth.” So Noah went out of the boat with his wife, his sons, and their wives. All the animals and birds went out of the boat in groups of their own kind."

Time to Worship:

Heavenly Father, we're sorry for the times when we've rejected you as our King, and tried to do things our way.  We're sorry for the times we don't trust that your way is the best way.  We thank you that you love us even so, and that you have already done everything that is needed for us to come back and be made right with you.  Thank you that you have promised never to flood the earth again, and that we can see the sign of your promise in the rainbow.  Help us to love you, and help us to know how much you love us - so much that all of history is threaded with your plan to bring us back to you.

Help us to make you our Forever King.
